There has been held a two-day regional training for judges on application the provisions of the Aarhus Convention in Karaganda

In Karaganda, the Supreme Court, along with the OSCE Centre in Astana is held a regional workshop for judges on application the provisions of the Aarhus Convention and national environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Aarhus Convention is a Convention of Europe Economic Commission of the United Nations "On access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and access to Justice in Environmental Matters relating to the environment."

The judge of the Supreme Court of RK V.Borisov, national coordinator of the OSCE Centre in Astana M.Ibrasheva, OSCE expert S.Kovlyagina, expert of Resource and Analysis Center "Society and Environment" A.Andrusevich took part in the event.

About 50 judges from Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan regions and Astana city took part in the training. The purpose of the event - it is facilitating the implementation of the Aarhus Convention and extension cooperation among all interested parties.

In his speech, the chairman of Karaganda regional court M.Alimbekov noted that "Carrying of this training is very useful. It contributes to raising awareness of environmental issues, provides an opportunity to express their concerns and allow the judicial system to ensure the correct application of environmental legislation. "

There was a ceremony of awarding certificates to participants after summing up the studies.
