Representatives of the Supreme Court and UNDP discussed the issues of improving the judicial system

Today in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with representatives of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Kazakhstan on discussion current and future joint activities, including the implementation of the projects "Implementation of mediation institution in the Republic of Kazakhstan" and "Improving the system of judicial monitoring"

The head of Department to ensure the operation of the courts I.Ispanov, Judge of the Supreme Court U.Suleymenova, management staff of the Supreme Court, UNDP deputy Resident Representative in Kazakhstan M.Altangerel, head of the Department of effective governance and territorial development A.Baymyrza, project manager " Implementation of mediation institution in the Republic of Kazakhstan " G.Tulesbaeva took part in the event.

In his speech, the Head of the Department I.Ispanov noted: "We appreciate the work of UNDP in Kazakhstan, in particular, the successful implementation of the project on introduction of mediation institute in the Republic of Kazakhstan. We express our sincere appreciation for the expert and organizational support that is provided by UNDP judicial authorities in the course of this project. We expect a big joint work on a second project "Improvement the system of judicial monitoring." For its part, confirm interest in deepening mutual cooperation in this direction. "

The participants of the meeting discussed the results of the project "Implementation of mediation institute in the Republic of Kazakhstan" in 2012-2014, with the participation of representatives of the Supreme Court, UNDP and project partners. On the use of mediation there were held training workshops in March and September of the current year in Astana, Almaty and Aktau cities. There have been trained a total of 120 judges, involved in the conduct of conciliation procedure.

There have been announced prospects for cooperation in the pre-trial and judicial practice in the country for the project "Improvement the system of judicial monitoring in Kazakhstan." The purpose of this project is to increase the transparency and quality of judicial services, competence of judges and judicial leaders at the local level. There have been planned training of interviewers in the regions for a national sociological survey of trial participants, workshops for judges with the participation of international experts for improving judicial monitoring in Kazakhstan for 2015. It is also planned to conduct research and workshops on legal proceedings, including the implementation of obligations under international conventions. 

In general, the meeting was held in a spirit of constructive dialogue and cooperation. The parties expressed their mutual satisfaction with the conversation and wished each other further success.
