Chairman of the Military Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan S.Abdullaev: "The judges are aimed to fulfill the tasks set by the Head of State"

The chairman of the Military Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saken Abdullayev, held a press conference during which he informed the media about the Military Court activities for the administration of justice for 2016, as well as the criminal cases considered that caused public outcry.

Opening the event, S.Abdullaev noted that at the 7th extraordinary congress of judges, the Head of State set before the judiciary corps a number of tasks to increase trust in justice by citizens, the need to conduct explanatory work among ordinary Kazakhstanis to increase the level of legal literacy of the population, increase the effectiveness of conciliatory procedures.

According to the chairman of the Appeal division for Criminal Cases Zhandos Msabekuly, in 2016, a third of the defendants were sentenced to imprisonment out of the total number of guilty verdicts. "Punitive practice" made 26%. The number of justified persons has increased. The rate of application of alternative measures of punishment made 40%. "The statistics testify that the courts generally impose punishment in accordance with the gravity of the crimes committed, while the trend continues to increase the application of alternative measures of punishment for the convicts," J. Musabekuly said.

Speakers also talked about the main results of the practical implementation of Plan of Nation, as well as innovations in the judicial system, in particular, the work of new information technologies in the legal proceedings and their advantages.

At the end of the press conference S.Abdullaev noted that in the future all the necessary measures will be taken to fulfill the tasks set by the Head of State to improve the quality of the administration of justice, strengthen the guarantees of independence and effectiveness of the country judicial system and enhance the image of the judiciary.
