Videoconferencing in court proceedings

The courts of the republic in the first half of the current year with the use of videoconferencing considered 1282 material.

The Supreme Court in the current year has purchased and installed 32 sets of videoconferencing equipment in prisons of the Committee of criminal executive system of the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

Implementation of information technologies in courts activity is the main task of the Supreme Court and promises significant advantages.

In many courts there is an opportunity to use video conferencing in court proceedings, providing interactive interaction of two or more remote users to share information and processing it in real time. The technology improves the quality and efficiency of court proceedings.

The system reduces the time of consideration court cases, the time spent trial participants associated with travel to the court and back, solves the problem of participation in the consideration of cases of persons living or staying away from the location of the trial, physically restricted movement for medical reasons, being in prison or detention.

It is necessary to note the exclusion of state costs associated with the delivery of convicts to court and back, the cost of their convoy, as well as the exclusion of risks escaping convicts, committing by them new crimes during the escort and the court session, ensuring thus the security of the court and the process parties.

Currently, local courts and correctional institutions of the Committee of criminal executive system of the Ministry of Interior Affairs within the framework of the project "Remote trial" is used videoconferencing in consideration criminal cases and materials without escorting the accused and persons who are in detention centers and prisons.

Measures for further use of video conferencing capabilities in the court proceedings are continued.
