"Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" in its edition dated 1st of July of the current year published an article "Reforms for the good of the country and people," of the Chairman of the Supreme Court Kairat Mami.

The author described in detail the ongoing work by higher judicial body of the Republic on the implementation of institutional reforms initiated by the Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev. In particular, the terms of "Ensuring of rule of law", as noted K. Mami, is provided 19 steps on the development of the judicial system of the country, there is a large role assigns to the Supreme Court.

In the publication is also talked about the assessment of international organizations, notes that the judicial system of our country today shows fairly good efficiency in ensuring the rule of law. In 2015, Kazakhstan improved its world rating of the rule of law, constituted by the International NGO World Justice Project, just six points (from 71 to 65).

In the article is paid special attention to the activities of the Supreme Court in specific areas of judicial reform: setting new approaches to the selection of candidates for judges and ensure their independence in making judgments, and the introduction of a system of monitoring the effectiveness of the courts.

National Commission supported the proposals to raise to 30 years the age limit for candidates for judges, which implies a change in the Constitution. It proposes the introduction of a 5-year work experience directly related to participation in the proceedings, for such professions as court clerks, prosecutors and lawyers. The list of such positions is proposed to consolidate the legislation.

The author of the article pointed out that the term of undergraduates internship in the courts is proposed to increase to one year. It’s introduced the institute of guarantee for newly appointed judge.
