In Atyrau, two-day training for mentors and protégés of the judiciary corps of the western region of the country began.

The event was organized on the initiative of the Supreme Court with the support of the European Union project "Improving the Criminal Justice System in Kazakhstan", implemented by the international organization NI-CO.

Bayan Toktarova, the judge of the Supreme Court, the trainers - international experts Ian Carsten and Glynn Hukings, judges of the West Kazakhstan, Mangistau, Aktobe and Atyrau regions take part in the training.

Opening the event, the chairman of the regional court Margulan Bekturganov noted that daily judicial work requires a certain life experience and the judge's compliance with the highest moral standards. To implement this task, as M. Bekturganov noted, a mentoring program has been adopted and is functioning as an integral part of the Judicial Education Strategy. According to him, in connection with the large number of young judges there is still a problem of their adaptation to the new work. The chairman of the regional court expressed confidence that this training will help them in their work.

Judge of the Supreme Court Bayan Toktarova also noted that the training will assist them in developing communication skills in the process of mentor-protege relations.

"It is an honor to teach this new course to the representatives of Themis. The development of mentoring is vital for the success of the judiciary, "Ian Karsten said at the same time.

Within two days the participants will study the main stages of the mentoring process as part of the course developed by the experts. The course uses different teaching methods to help students learn new knowledge and apply them in practice.
