Zhambyl regional court met professional mediators

The Zhambyl regional court held a meeting with professional mediators, lawyers, notaries, the representatives of the education management, Atameken NCR, the PSC, RICS, labour unions, business communities, students and teachers of secondary and higher education institutions and the mass media.

During the meeting, the chairman of the Judicial division for Civil Cases of the Regional Court Zhomart Rustembekov noted the work conducted by courts, local executive bodies, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, mediators, interested state bodies, private structures to strengthen public harm by means of conciliation procedures. Among them, the pilot projects on judicial mediation, mandatory pre-trial settlement of disputes in certain categories in the mediation order, establishment of the Mediation Institute, schools of mediators, joint seminars and round tables with APK, and other measures to explain the benefits of reconciliation were noted in the courts.

At the same time, Zh. Rustembekov noted that the number of cases settled by conciliation remains insignificant and their amount is about 8% out of the total number of cases. The reasons are the absence of comprehensive work with the population and a single site for extrajudicial settlement of disputes.

"Today, the judiciary is aimed at maximizing the attention of the widest sections of the region's population to mediation. In this regard, the regional court initiated a contest for the best legal essay on mediation," the judge of the regional court Dinara Nurlybayeva said in her speech. The essay is a creative composition in which participants will have the opportunity to present their vision of the proposed topic, trying to substantiate it, relying on existing trends of development, and also referring to facts from public or personal experience.

Deadline for submission of competitive works: May 1 - 31 this year. The best essays will be published in the media (newspapers, magazines, websites).

"Timely and accurate propaganda of mediation is necessary as a way to settle the dispute by peace," a specialist in the department for quality control of public services Aknur Sultanbekova said.

Participants of the meeting expressed their confidence that the event would draw the attention of the population of the region, inform about the advantages of conciliation procedures.
