The court fined the former official 3.5 million tenge for taking bribes in Zhambyl region

Having considered the criminal case against J., Shu district court of Zhambyl region found her guilty of taking bribes.

According to the materials of the case it was found that T. asked the acting Akim of the Shyganak rural district Zh. to issue a permission for installing an advertising billboard.

Zh., being an official acting as a representative of the authorities, in order to implement criminal intent aimed at illegal enrichment by means of gratuitous receipt of funds, demanded from T. 130,000 tenge for the permission and signing of a contract for advertising signage. In the course of secret investigative actions, the fact of obtaining 70 000 tenge by Zh. from T. was recorded.

In the court session, Zh. did not plead her guilty.

The court sentenced Zh. according to part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan to a fine 3,500,000 KZT with confiscation of property owned by a convicted person, obtained by criminal means or acquired with funds obtained by criminal means, with life deprivation of the right to hold positions in the civil service.

The verdict of the court did not come into legal force.
