There was a meeting of the Chairman of the Supreme Court K. Mami with the Representative of "UNICEF" of the UN in the Republic of Kazakhstan Yu.Oksamitny in the Supreme Court.

The meeting purpose – discussion of achievements and improvement of justice system of Kazakhstan on protection of the rights and interests of children.

During conversation K. Mami noted that development of juvenile justice is a priority of social and legal policy of the state. One of important achievements of activity in this sphere is creation of specialized juvenile courts.

"Today in Kazakhstan, only from the countries of the Central Asia, juvenile courts successfully function. Their activity opened new prospects in improvement of system of protection of the rights of children in Kazakhstan", - K. Mami noted.

In turn, Yu.Oksomitny agreed that experience of introduction in Kazakhstan of juvenile courts is one of front lines in the world. They allow to consider the lawsuits connected with protection of the rights and interests of minors in separate proceedings that fully corresponds to realization of priorities of the Convention of the UN on the rights of the child.

We will remind that in Kazakhstan in all regions of the country are created and actively work specialized juvenile courts. In them the criminal, administrative, civil cases affecting the rights and interests of children are considered. Since 2011 in these courts is observed the steady tendency of measures of punishment sentencing concerning the minors which aren't connected with imprisonment. On civil and criminal cases became wider to be applied the mediation procedures promoting reconciliation of the parties.
