These days in our country there are two holidays – the Defender Day of the Fatherland and the 70 anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 7th ! It is deeply symbolical that a difference between them only one day.

In days of the Great Patriotic War about 1 million 800 thousand Kazakhstan citizens left on the front. More than a half of them didn't return. Our fathers and grandfathers along with representatives of other people of the former Union showed courage and heroism in many battles of that war. It is protection of the Brest fortress, defense of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk fights and, of course, a capture of Berlin.

A lot of work on approach of the Victory was conducted in the back. It is known that nine of ten bullets were cast from the Kazakhstan lead. In the territory of the republic hundreds evacuated organizations and plants worked.

Today many veterans actively participate in patriotic education of youth. Their vital views, wisdom and experience are a bright example of selfless service to the Homeland and a sample for imitation.

Successors of military traditions of generation of winners in the Great Patriotic War are present Armed Forces of the republic. Our country, pursuing peace policy, possesses the modern mobile, technically equipped and efficient army.
