Today in the capital the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the OSCE Office program in Astana, the representation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the NGO "Guild of court reporters" conducted a two-day training seminar " Court reporter School " for journalists specializing in the legal and judicial theme.

At the meeting the judge of the Supreme Court Erbol Rakhimbekov, head of the OSCE Office programs in Astana, Ambassador Gyorgy Szabo, head of Friedrich Ebert Foundation Zauresh Shutova, as well as chairman of the "Guild of court reporters" Jeanne Baitelova made welcome speech.

"Native journalism is actively developing, rapidly developing new technologies and forms of information delivery. It appears more interesting materials with non-standard approaches and original ideas. Thanks to this the citizens began to use more efficient one of the most important constitutional rights - the right to freely seek, receive and information distribution " - the judge of the Supreme Court E.Rahimbekov said in his welcome speech, while noting that the judicial system is interested in the fact that the journalistic community should be as much as possible professionally in covering courts activities, objective and comprehensive in presenting information on judicial cases.

According E.Rahimbekov, establishment and effective functioning of the Guild of court reporters is a timely and necessary step for both the judges and the journalists themselves. He is convinced that it is, of course, it contributes to the fact that there will be more "watchable" and "readable" reports "from the courtroom," unfair disappeared from broadcasting and media pages. "This genre of journalism, has long been in requisition, requires the special skills of the author: specific knowledge of the legal and judicial sphere, possession of legal terminology, as well as the ability to interpret the meaning of applicable procedural provisions by the judges", - the judge said. He expressed the belief that this seminar will be the start of a meaningful link in the learning process of the journalists’ judicial topics.

At the seminar the judge of the Supreme Court Elena Maksyuta spoke about the Kazakhstan legislation on access to court information, publicity, like the principle of legal proceedings and legislative framework to restrict access to information. The judge also stopped briefly at the kinds of judicial trials and instances, features, and differences of civil, criminal, administrative processes.

E.Rahimbekov made a speech on matters of providing media access to judicial information, peculiarities of the openness principle implementation in criminal proceedings, the participation of media representatives in the court trial outside the courtroom, the correct use of legal terminology in press coverage.

The deputy head of the press office of the Supreme Court Aidos Saduakasov spoke on the interaction of the courts with the media, organization of courts’ press services work, the role of the judge-coordinator in establishing a constructive dialogue with the mass media,.

The judge retired of the North Kazakhstan regional court Inessa Kuanova explained the peculiarities of the realization of the publicity principle in civil proceedings, conducting of closed or open court hearing in a civil case, the rules of legal technique when using legal concepts.

On the second day according to the agenda of the training seminar is planned to discuss such topics as " Journalist’s professional rights and responsibilities", "Judicial Reporter: concept and specificity", "The right of access to information: methods of protection and responsibility for the violation of the right of access to information "" Judicial practice in civil cases on the responsibility of the media for violating the law, "" The matters on the use and processing of personal data in a professional activity "," Problems of application of the provisions on the right of the image "," Journalist’s protection and security when  fulfillment of professional activities.
