Judges and international experts discussed the issues of law enforcement in the field of Antimonopoly

The Supreme Court together with the representation of the American bar Association "Initiatives of the rule of law in Kazakhstan" held a two-day seminar-meeting in Almaty on the topic: "Methodology of drawing up a judicial act on administrative cases. Topical issues of application of legislation in the field of Antimonopoly activity".

The moderators of the discussions were made by the Chairman of the specialized chambers of the Supreme Court Aigul Kydyrbaeva and judge of the Supreme Court Gulzhan Almagambetova.

The seminar-meeting was attended by the Head of the American bar Association "Rule of law initiative in Kazakhstan" Sholpan Turmuhambetova, international expert, senior researcher, Institute for foreign public law and international law Max Planck, Professor Dr. Matthias Hartwig, Deputy Mission Director for Central Asia U.S. Agency for international development Julie Southfield, a Supreme Court judge Nurlan Sultanov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on regulation of natural monopolies, protection of competition and consumers rights Ministry of national economy Rustam Akhmetov, Chairman of the management Board of the Association of taxpayers of Kazakhstan Zhanat Yertlesova, representatives of the Committee for regulation of natural monopolies, protection of competition and consumers' rights, judges.

On the first day of the meeting, judges of the Supreme Court spoke about the quality of preparation of judicial acts on administrative and civil cases, discussed practical issues on the topic under discussion.

An international expert, senior researcher at the max Planck Institute of foreign public and international law, associate Professor Matthias Hartwig shared his experience in drafting judicial acts in Germany.

The participants of the event on the second day discussed topical issues of application of Antimonopoly legislation in civil and administrative proceedings.

Aigul Kydyrbaeva, speaking, called the main purpose of the event the protection of consumer rights from unfair competition, the creation of favorable conditions for doing business. She noted that stability and certainty of judicial practice in the sphere of Antimonopoly activity is important in solving these problems.

At the meeting, the judges of the Supreme Court spoke about the application of law in the field of antitrust in civil cases.

Julia Southfield made about the relevance of cooperation with the Supreme Court in the framework of the judicial system and strengthening the capacity of the judicial system through the presentation of international expertise on topical issues of the new legislation.

International expert Matthias Hartwig drew attention to the consequences of a breach of antitrust prohibitions. Rustam Akhmetov informed about the practice of application of legislation in the field of competition protection.

After a fruitful discussion, the participants of the seminar-meeting developed recommendations useful not only to judges, but also to representatives of Antimonopoly agencies.
