There was a workshop concerning improvement of the press services work of courts

Today in Astana in “Kazzhol” hotel there began the work of the two-day workshop on: "Interaction of judicial system with mass media and a role of press secretaries". This action is organized by the Supreme Court together with Office of programs of OSCE in Astana and the International Fund of protection of freedom of speech "Adil soz".

The judge of the Supreme Court Akyltay Kasimov, the head of Office of programs of OSCE in Astana city Natalya Zarudnaya, representatives of the International fund of protection of freedom of speech "Adil soz", and also heads of information support departments of the regional and equivalent courts took part in event.

Within the framework of a workshop were conducted trainings of the expert from Russia Sergey Chizhkov, the media trainer Olga Groznoya, the journalist Yerzhan Suleymenov. Also the chairman of Guild of court reporters Zhanna Baytelova spoke.

Having opened the event A.Kasimov noted that "Today, information transparency is one of the priorities of the Supreme Court. This was stated by the President at the VI Congress of Judges. This line of work has received additional relevance in light of the implementation of the Plan of the Nation "100 concrete steps - the modern state for everyone", initiated by the Head of the State. "

In her speech, Natalia Zarudnaya noted that "Only the law can limit access to information from the courtroom. Therefore one of the tasks of the press service of the court is to balance the interests of journalists and through them the society and trial participants. This whole process is needed that openness has not been implemented to the detriment of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, society and the state. "

During the workshop, experts told about the foreign experience of cooperation of courts with the mass media, the practice of providing information openness of courts, the rights of journalists in covering trials and obtaining judicial information and others.

The second part of the workshop will be held on 19th of July. There will be workshops on interaction with the mass media.

The outcome of the two-day workshop will be developed a number of recommendations aimed at improving of cooperation of the judicial system with the mass media.
