There was a meeting of representatives of UNICEF and the European Union in Kazakhstan with chairman of Juvenile court in Astana city

In specialized inter-district Juvenile court of Astana city the chairman of the court Razzaq N.R. met with representatives of UNICEF Yu.Oksamitniy, A.Bekmusova, E.Ilyasov and the European Union in the Republic of Kazakhstan G.Dusupova.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss achievements and further improve of justice system of Kazakhstan on protection of rights and interests of children, as well as the practice of consideration of criminal and administrative cases against minors.

As noted Razzaq N.R., juvenile courts are the most important part of the juvenile justice system. This is due to the fact that the judicial power shall extend to all cases and disputes arising on the basis of the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan relating to minors.

In turn, the UNICEF Representative Yuri Oksamitniy praised the work of juvenile courts in Kazakhstan in the context of protecting the rights and interests of minor children.

"The experience of the introduction of juvenile courts in Kazakhstan is one of the most advanced in the world. This allows us to consider legal cases, taking into account the rights and interests of minors in a separate proceedings. This approach is consistent with the priorities of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. We are willing to further cooperation with juvenile courts in Kazakhstan ", - Yuri Oksamitniy noted.

Also during the meeting was discussed current judicial practice and consideration of the specifics of civil, administrative and criminal cases involving minors, where they act as defendants, victims, witnesses. Particular attention was paid to the practice of interrogation of children in Kazakhstan, and its correlation with the international standards.

During the meeting the chairman of the court has acquainted guests with new information technologies in the judicial system. It was shown the procedure of filing documents in electronic form via the information service "Judicial office".

In conclusion the chairman of the court Razzaq N.R. expressed gratitude to the representatives of UNICEF and the European Union in the Republic of Kazakhstan for fruitful cooperation on the protection of the rights of children and wished them success in their work.
