Judges of the Zhambyl region discussed the Ethical Code of Judges Draft

The chairman of the Committee on Judicial Ethics of a branch of the Union of Judges of the Zhambyl region, the chairman of the Specialized Inter-district criminal court Tlepov Azamat held a seminar with the judges of Zhambyl region, having work experience less than 5 years, to discuss the draft of the Ethical Code of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the meeting, A.Tlepov noted that the adoption of a new Ethical Code principles and rules of judges conduct is planned at the VII-th Congress of Judges, in this regard, all the branches of the Union of Judges hold such meetings to discuss the draft Code.

A.Tlepov emphasized on the clear presentation in the draft Ethical Code principles and rules of judges’ conduct, the relevant international standards. "This is due to a significant increase in the requirements of society to moral appearance of judges, and therefore the adoption of the Ethical Code at this stage of the judicial system reform is necessary and timely, as the draft Code, which consists of 5 chapters and 33 articles (for comparison - the existing Code contains 9 articles) aimed at the formation of high professional and moral character of the judges ", - A.Tlepov considers.

He also recalled the implementation of measures according to the 19th step of Plan of Nation to strengthen the accountability of judges, the development of a new Ethical Code of judges, on the basis of which citizens will be able to appeal the judges’ actions in the Court jury specially created at the Supreme Court. The draft Code amplified existing requirements for acting judges. The new Ethical Code of judges is based on the Bangalore Principles of Judges Conduct and other international standards of professional judge’s ethics.

In the course of the meeting the sides exchanged views and developed concrete proposals and comments on the draft Code, which directed the Central Council of the Union of Judges.
