An appeal court session on “Horgos case” is taking place

On 8 July 2014 under the chairmanship of the judge of the appeal judicial board on criminal cases A.M.Nurbekov consideration of appeals on a sentence, which did not come into legal force, on a criminal case on facts of economic contrabandage of the so-called “Horgos case”, started. The session is in an open format.

Out of 45 convicted on this case 39 convicted appealed. One convicted withdrew his appeal.

Convicted and their advocates submitted 62 appeals and 39 additions to appeals to the sentence of the first instance court. Apart from this 51 requests were submitted.

At the first court session requests of only 9 advocates were heard.

According to materials of the case, convicted are accused in 7 episodes of crimes. Among them committing by an organized criminal community of an economic contrabandage in especially big amount, abuse of authority and official position by employees of the national security authorities, preparation, criminal attempt and giving bribe in an especially big amount to employees of the authorities of financial police and  internal affairs, abuse of power, making financial operations and other transactions with money funds and other property, acquired intentionally illegally, use of specified funds and other property for an entrepreneurial activity and other economic activity, committed in a group of persons upon a previous concert, not once and in big amounts.

The next court session was appointed on 10 July 2014.
